Ireland's narcotics trader, Michael McDonagh, beaten to death after football match

After a Premier League game, a fight broke out, leading to the murder of an Irish drug dealer at a UK summer camp.
Sligo tourist Michael McDonagh, 53, was slain on Friday night at Parkdean Resorts in Camber Sands, Sussex, southeast England.
McDonagh, who had previously been the subject of the Criminal Assets Bureau, is thought to have joined the argument after watching the Premier League opener between Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

SUSSEX, UK - After a Premier League game, a fight broke out, leading to the murder of an Irish drug dealer at a UK summer camp.

Sligo tourist Michael McDonagh, 53, was slain on Friday night at Parkdean Resorts in Camber Sands, Sussex, southeast England. He was ambushed and forced down by a group.

McDonagh, who had previously been the subject of the Criminal Assets Bureau, is thought to have joined the argument after watching the Premier League opener between Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

He was declared dead in the early hours of Saturday morning after paramedics arrived at the site and tried their utmost to save his life.

Police are currently questioning six persons on murder suspicion.

The press was informed last night by sources that McDonagh once had a significant role in the northwest of Ireland's narcotics trade, surfacing in the late 1990s.

CAB started their investigation into the criminal as gardai looked into his activities.

And in 2000, the Bureau was able to take his luxurious residence outside Ballintogher, Sligo, after establishing that it had been purchased with proceeds from crime.
